Emergency crews in Colorado halted traffic along a major mountain corridor Sunday evening to reach three rock climbers stranded on the rugged terrain.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office initiated a full closure of U.S. Highway 6 in both directions between Highway 96 in Golden and Highway 119 in Gilpin County at approximately 6:40 p.m., as reported by CBS Colorado.
Crews are actively working on the rescue in an area known for its breathtaking and challenging geography, as the 467-mile highway transitions through the high-altitude Clear Creek Canyon.,
The sheriff’s office shared an update regarding the physical state of the three climbers and confirmed that, “no injuries have been reported.”
