12-year-old boy killed in Winnetka, Los Angeles crash, driver arrested for DUI

A 12-year-old boy was killed early Monday morning in LA’s Winnetka neighborhood after being struck by a vehicle, according to Los Angeles Police Department officials.

The incident occurred around 4:49 a.m. at the intersection of Saticoy Street and Winnetka Avenue.

Police said the boy was crossing the street outside a marked crosswalk when he was hit, Fox 11 Los Angeles reported.

The driver stayed at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, authorities reported.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, including why the child was out at that hour.
