84-year-old Chicago woman Judith Harris found dead after Logan Square house fire

An 84-year-old woman died Saturday morning after being found unresponsive following a residential fire in the Logan Square neighborhood. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Judith Harris.

The fire occurred in the 2500 block of North Bernard Street shortly after 1:30 a.m. according to Chicago police, CBS Chicago reported. Officers and fire crews arrived at the scene to find the residence ablaze. Firefighting teams were able to extinguish the flames, after which they conducted a search of the premises.

During the post-fire inspection, responders located Harris unresponsive inside the home. Emergency personnel transported her to Stroger Hospital. Medical staff later pronounced her dead at the facility.

According to police statements, there were no other injuries reported in connection with the blaze. Furthermore, officials confirmed that the incident resulted in no displacements of other residents.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Authorities stated that the investigation into the origin and circumstances of the fire remains ongoing.
